How this started
We kept running into the same problem: it is too warm, the AC is overkill, and there is no simple way to fix it. Turning on a window unit for a two-hour work session felt like a lot. Opening a window did not always help. A USB fan plugged into a laptop or power bank actually worked.
The problem was finding a good one. Most listings look the same. The specs are copied across dozens of products. The photos are identical. Reviews mention noise but do not tell you whether it is quiet enough for a call or just quieter than a box fan.
We built TILWBQ to solve that one shopping problem. A small catalog, plain descriptions, and honest information about what each fan is actually good for.
Who we carry fans for
People who work from home and run warm. A USB fan on the desk keeps one person cool without running the AC for the whole house. The constraint is that it has to be quiet enough for video calls. That is the first thing we check.
Rear seat passengers and families on road trips. Most cars do not distribute airflow evenly to the back seat. A clip-on USB fan powered from a car charger solves this without touching the main AC controls. Parents with kids in car seats mention this use case frequently.
People who travel and pack light. Hotel rooms are unpredictable. A fan that weighs under a pound, charges from the same adapter as your phone, and fits in a laptop bag side pocket is genuinely useful when you land somewhere that is warmer than expected or the room AC is loud and blasts cold air rather than circulating it.
Outdoor and active use. Golf cart riders, people working in garages or workshops, campers who want a fan running overnight off a battery. These are real situations with specific requirements around mounting, battery life, and durability that a typical desk fan does not cover.
How we choose what we carry
Before anything goes on the site, we check four things.
- Noise at each speed. Quiet enough for video calls and focused work, or clearly labeled when it is not.
- Airflow at each speed. A meaningful difference between low, medium, and high, not just a motor getting louder.
- Build quality and stability. Does it stay in place on a desk or seat, or tip over at the slightest nudge.
- Setup simplicity. Plug in and it works. No app, no pairing process, no manual required.
We also confirm that products meet U.S. safety and compliance standards before listing them. Supplier documentation is a baseline requirement, not a bonus feature.
If a product stops meeting our standards, we remove it. If a customer reports a consistent issue, we look into it. That is the full extent of our quality process. It is not sophisticated, but it works for our size.
Our retail approach
We sell exclusively online across the United States. We keep the catalog intentionally small. A smaller catalog means we can track how each product performs over time, follow up on customer feedback, and stop carrying something if it starts having problems. We are not trying to be the largest fan retailer online. We are trying to be a reliable one.
